Previsualization

Image of the day:

Sound of the day:

Word of the day: mise-en-scène, n. The setting, surroundings, or background of any event or action. 2. Theatre. The staging of a play; the scenery and properties of a stage production; the stage setting.

Connecting the real to the imagined

You are all beginning to establish the mise-en-scène of your animations. Consider that you are creating miniature worlds, and ask yourself these questions: What does my world look like? Does anyone live here? What does it sound like? What about smell? Of course there are many such questions to consider, focus on a few of them. As you find answers to some of these questions ask yourself another: Do you know of any places that share sights or sounds with the space you want to create? Go to that place to listen, look, and feel the atmosphere.

A few previsualization strategies:

describe your project using images:Sketching/storyboard
describe your project using words
describe your project using speech: telling your story, or idea to someone else out loud
describe your project using yourself: act out your ideas using gestures
describe your project using objects
